Anmber the Rescue Leonberger
Amber's story is written by her owner-mom Karen Knox

We brought Amber, a 7 year old rescue, home on October 24, 2004. She spent the prior night with us in a hotel room and made the 3 hour trip to Maine with her new brother Zeke. They both seemed to get along great. She also is getting along with her other brother Max and the kitten Spencer. She has settled in with us already and is definitely mommy's girl! She loves laying on the couch alone, with Zeke, with mommy and with all of us! It has been fun getting to know her habits and likes and dislikes. She loves to ride in the SUV and loves trips to PetCo. We discovered that she won't get out of the car without a leash on. (a very good thing) In fact one day we thought she was just being stubborn and she sat in the car until we figured out how to get her out!

She is so very lovable and huggable. And she gives the sweetest butterfly kisses. Of course she gives big Leo licks too! She has decided to sleep in the office across from our bedroom and comes in every night to sit by my bed and give me kisses before she scuffs over to her room. I just love her big feet and they way she walks. We call her slipper girl because it sounds like she is wearing big floppy slippers when she walks! She is a bit possessive of me and will growl and will sometimes snap at Zeke if he comes near us when we are snuggling or sitting on the couch together. We are working to stop that behavior. Other than that she gets along great with all the other critters. |

It seems that she has been with us much longer than the month and a half that she has been home with us. I can now understand why Leo people love their Leos so very much! She has brought so much love to us already and we are looking forward to many more years with her. And of course I want to add another Leo to the family at some point! I am so glad that we opted to adopt a rescue Leo, this is giving us a great introduction to the breed. We will always have Leos in our family! |
